Inter will talk to their players today to try and reach an agreement over four months of outstanding salary payments, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri have devised a plan for paying the deferred wages which will need to be accepted by everyone in the squad.
The players will receive their wages for July and August now while the payments for November and December will be further delayed, provided the dressing room agrees to it.
There is an Italian Football Federation deadline for all Serie A clubs to pay salaries by February 16, but clubs can go beyond this date if they have a written agreement with their employees.
The signing of this agreement is essential to avoid problems in relation to obtaining a licence from European football’s governing body UEFA at the end of March.
The agreement reached between the club and players will be presented to UEFA, who, as they have already done in recent months, will have to accept it.
It will also be necessary for everyone under contract with Inter to agree to the proposal, even including former coach Luciano Spalletti, who is on the club’s books until the end of the season, and his backroom staff.
