Inter are unwilling to consider swapping Alexis Sanchez for Edin Dzeko at the moment due to wage complications, according to an Italian media report today.
Reports across Italy this afternoon have suggested the Nerazzurri are in talks with Roma over a last-minute loan exchange, with the capital club looking to offload Dzeko after he fell out with head coach Paulo Fonseca.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport‘s online edition has reported things differently, stating that Inter are not open to the swap yet – even though they like the idea of signing Dzeko – because it is very difficult for them to make the deal work economically.
Although Sanchez and Dzeko’s salaries are almost identical, with Sanchez earning €7 million net a year and Dzeko on €7.5 million, Inter would have to pay Dzeko much more than they have been paying Sanchez if they signed the Bosnian, because they have been exploiting tax benefits with Sanchez in order to pay him that amount.
The Milan-based news outlet said that while negotiations cannot be considered over, the Nerazzurri are not willing to work on the deal at the moment.
Multiple reports have stated that Roma proposed the swap to Inter and it now remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri club will change their mind and a deal will be done before the transfer window closes in the coming days.
