Inter’s Romelu Lukaku and AC Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic are not expected to receive further punishment for their fiery dispute in Tuesday’s Derby della Madonnina.
The two players ended up in a war of words with one another and Ibrahimovic even headbutted Lukaku at one point, as tensions reached boiling point at San Siro shortly before half-time in Inter’s 2-1 win over AC Milan.
As per La Repubblica’s print edition, the disciplinary consequences, if any, will be learned tomorrow, but it would appear both Lukaku and Ibrahimovic will receive a one-match ban to be served in the Coppa Italia, which is what they are already guaranteed to have.
Lukaku was already a booking away from suspension when referee Paolo Valeri issued yellow cards for both players, while Ibrahimovic was later sent off after receiving a second caution.
The report goes on to explain that Inter are confident of there being a painless solution reached over the situation between the two great goal scorers.
Lukaku will miss the first leg of the Nerazzurri’s semi-final against Juventus, to be played at San Siro on Tuesday, along with Achraf Hakimi after the Moroccan picked up a booking in stoppage time against the Rossoneri.
