Inter are playing on a different level now compared with earlier in the season, according to Italian football writer Mario Sconcerti.

Sconcerti’s comments came off the back of the Nerazzurri’s dramatic comeback win against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at San Siro on Tuesday.

Although Inter did fall behind and went into half time trailing 1-0, they came back to win 2-1 and were completely dominant for an hour, despite needing a stoppage-time winner from Christian Eriksen to secure victory.

“It was a miracle AC Milan held on until the end, the difference became increasingly clear after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s sending off,” Sconcerti remarked in his editorial in Wednesday’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“Inter never play free-flowing football, but they are becoming increasingly imposing with their physical strength.

“They scored from two set pieces and even restored Eriksen’s honour, and now they dominate all the games that they play.

“It seems to me that they have entered another dimension compared to the entire season so far.”

Sconcerti also expressed his thoughts on Inter’s out-of-favour midfielder Eriksen, who booked the Nerazzurri’s spot in the semi-finals in the 97th minute.

The 28-year-old Dane has struggle to perform to expectations during his time in Italy so far but scored a fantastic free kick to send Antonio Conte’s side into the last four.

“He’s always scored great goals, that’s his bread and butter, much less so his dynamism or his reading of the game, even when he was in the Premier League,” Sconcerti argued.
