Matias Vecino made a scoring return to competitive action today as he helped Inter’s Primavera side to a 3-1 win over Genoa.

The Uruguayan midfielder has been out with a knee injury since July and following his participation in a training friendly against Pro Sesto earlier this month, he was able to ramp up his recovery by featuring for Armando Madonna’s academy side.

Vecino was on the pitch for 69 minutes against the Rossoblu but it took him just seven minutes to get his name on the scoresheet and put Inter ahead.

His last appearance for Antonio Conte’s first team came in a 2-2 draw at Hellas Verona last season, but it seems the 29-year-old could be in contention again soon.

Mattia Sangalli scored in the 39th minute to double Inter’s lead at the Stadio Breda, meaning the Nerazzurri went into the half-time leading 2-0.

Cesare Casadei made it 3-0 in the 86th minute before Genoa got a consolation goal in the 89th minute, courtesy of an own goal from Etienne Kinkoue.
