Roma have offered Inter a loan swap that would see the clubs exchange Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

As per a report on Di Marzio‘s website, the Giallorossi are looking for a way to offload Dzeko before the end of the January transfer window after the Bosnian fell out with head coach Paulo Fonseca.

Inter are evaluating if and how they could make the deal work from an economic point of view, given that Dzeko and Sanchez earn different salaries.

From a sporting point of view, however, the Nerazzurri are favourable to the idea, unlike when Roma offered to swap Dzeko with Christian Eriksen, who plays in a different position to the former Manchester City man.

Antonio Conte was keen to sign Dzeko for Inter when he joined the club in the summer of 2019, before the forward penned a new three-year deal with the capital club.

It therefore makes sense that the Nerazzurri would be eager to at least explore the possibility of such a deal, especially given that Conte is known to want an experienced back-up option for Romelu Lukaku for the remainder of the seasson.

There has been talk elsewhere today that Roma could swap Dzeko for former Inter captain Mauro Icardi, now of Paris Saint-Germain, but Di Marzio assured that there are currently no talks taking place between the two clubs.

This season Dzeko has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored eight goals and tallied two assists.
