Inter have been linked with a surprise last-minute swap deal that would see them exchange Alexis Sanchez for Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

As per Sportitalia, intermediaries are at work trying to find players with salaries comparable to that of Dzeko, who could leave the Giallorossi before the end of January.

Sanchez and former Inter striker Mauro Icardi, now at Paris Saint-Germain, have both been identified as players with whom Dzeko could feasibly be swapped.

It would be difficult to agree such a complex deal in the space of just a few days, but the intermediaries are nevertheless working in an attempt to find a solution.

Dzeko has been linked with a departure from Roma in recent weeks after a falling out with head coach Paolo Fonseca and the 34-year-old reportedly dreams of a return to former club Manchester City.

Inter have been linked with signing the veteran Bosnian international and it is currently not at all clear whether they would even entertain the idea of a swap deal involving Sanchez and Dzeko.

Juventus have also been linked with Dzeko, who has eight goals in 20 games this season.
