If Antonio Conte really believes in Christian Eriksen then he must start him when Inter face Benevento tomorrow, Italian journalist and Nerazzurri supporter Fabrizio Biasin argued today.

During today’s pre-match press conference ahead of the game at San Siro, Conte was asked whether Eriksen had earned a place in the starting XI after scoring the free-kick deep into stoppage time which secured Inter’s 2-1 win over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday.

Conte pointed out that Eriksen must do more during games to merit space in the side, arguing that the Danish midfielder can’t be in the team solely to take free-kicks.

Biasin, following the former Italy coach’s comments, took to Twitter and posted: “Conte says you can’t pick a player just because he knows how to take free-kicks.

“Eriksen is the most rested player and he has found morale.

“It’s very simple with regards to him.

“If you really believe in him then tomorrow you will start him, perhaps as a mezzala, otherwise you don’t believe in him.”

Eriksen has made 15 appearances across all competitions for Inter this season, scoring his first goal of the campaign in the Derby della Madonnina in midweek.
