Inter have all but reached an agreement with Lautaro Martinez to extend the striker’s contract, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, the Argentine forward is very likely to renew his deal with the Nerazzurri after his representatives met with Inter yesterday for fresh talks.

Lautaro is currently under contract until 2023 and an agreement is in place for a new deal until 2024, which will see El Toro earn around €5 million a year.

The 23-year-old will not instantly reap the benefits of a new deal though, with the Rome-based news outlet claiming that the increase he should receive this season would be spread out over the coming years.

It remains to be seen how quickly Inter will be able to finalise the deal, given the club’s current economic difficulties and the talks between owners Suning and BC Partners to sell shares.

Lautaro has made 27 appearances across all competitions for Inter this season, scoring 10 goals and providing a total of five assists.
