Inter Players Would Agree To Further Deferral On Nerazzurri’s Salary Payments, Italian Media Report

Inter’s players are open to letting the club delay late salary payments further if necessary, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Friday’s print edition of Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri must pay the players’ salaries for November and December before the Italian Football Federation’s deadline on February 16, but clubs can delay the payments beyond then if they can reach an agreement with their squad.

Talks have already taken place between Inter and their players and it has emerged the first team would be prepared to grant an extension should it be necessary.

Only if Inter cannot find a way to pay the salaries before February 16 will the agreement be finalised, though.

Inter’s economic problems stem from a lack of liquidity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Chinese government restrictions which are preventing owners Suning exporting much capital from China to Europe.

Suning are in fact in talks with BC Partners over selling the club, but at this stage it is still too early to talk about the British private equity fund’s plans for Inter.

BC Partners are entirely focused at present on gathering together enough resources to buy Inter, which is a difficult task considering Inter’s debt and the number of expenses that need to be met in the short term.

The Turin-based publication said it was still difficult to calculate how much Inter were worth, although they warned the rumours about failing to pay wages on time could negatively influence Inter’s sale price.
