Inter have taken significant steps forward this week in their quest to sign Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni to new contracts, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri hope to reach a draft agreement over a new deal with Lautaro and his representatives which would see El Toro extend his contract through to 2024, a year later than his current expiry date.

Lautaro earns €2.5 million a year at present and Inter do not want to pay him any more than €4.5 million a year, but the player’s agents are asking for more.

As part of the contract renewal, the €111 million release clause in Lautaro’s deal will also be removed.

When it comes to Bastoni, Inter have made similar progress after meeting his agent Tulio Tinti at their offices yesterday.

The report does not provide any details of what Bastoni’s new contract with the club could be like, but many reports have said the defender can expect a healthy pay rise compared to his current salary.
