Alexis Sanchez is reluctant to join Roma as part of Inter’s swap deal involving Edin Dzeko, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, Sanchez needs to be convinced about leaving the Nerazzurri because he thinks winning the Serie A title is a real possibility, meaning he is less than enthusiastic about moving to the capital until the end of the season.

The main obstacle in negotiations between the two clubs at the moment, however, remains the difference in gross salaries paid to the two players.

Due to the Italy’s ‘decreto crescita’ (growth decree) law, Inter get tax benefits for Sanchez’s contract but they would not be afforded the same benefits if they were to bring in Dzeko.

To overcome the difference, Roma could potentially contribute to Dzeko’s salary alternatively, or the Bosnian could agree to reduce his wages until the end of the season to help the move go through.

Inter could perhaps even send Andrea Pinamonti to Roma to further clear their wage bill, or they could even send Matias Vecino.

In the next few hours the clubs will meet to try and agree the deal.
