Matias Vecino was overjoyed after finally returning to competitive action for Inter’s Primavera side on Thursday.

The Uruguayan international has been on the sidelines with a knee injury since July but scored the opening goal for Armando Madonna’s team in a 3-1 win over Genoa.

Vecino played 70 minutes at the Stadio Breda and hopes to be available for first-team selection again in the coming weeks.

“Finally I made it back onto the pitch today and was reunited with the Nerazzurri shirt,” he delightedly told his followers on Instagram.

“I put important minutes in my legs and soon I’ll be back to my best!”

The 29-year-old’s last appearance for Inter came in a 2-2 draw at Hellas Verona on July 9, but he hasn’t started for the Nerazzurri since March, before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
