Inter and Roma both have ‘positive feelings’ about their chances of completing a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Edin Dzeko, according to an Italian media report.

As per Friday’s print edition of La Repubblica, there are currently two problems in negotiations that would see the Chilean and Bosnian internationals exchanged on a loan basis until the end of the season.

The first problem is that Inter president Steven Zhang does not wish to increase the club’s costs for the next few months and did not foresee any business being done during the January transfer window.

The second problem is the difference in salaries that the two players earn.

While Dzeko and Sanchez earn practically the same salary after tax, there is still a difference in what the clubs actually pay due because Inter only pay half as much in taxes on Sanchez’s contract as Roma do with Dzeko’s, due to Italian tax law.

To make up the economic difference, Inter are prepared to offer another player to Roma, because the Giallorossi are reluctant to pay an extra fee after giving up one of their key players in return for Sanchez, who is not a starter at Inter.

Inter could offer Ionut Radu as part of the deal and while both clubs swear the deal will not go through, the report suggests that the exact opposite seems to be true, because Inter and Roma are optimistic about getting it done.
