Following their heated clash in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic are facing potential further disciplinary action.

The former Manchester United teammates engaged in a blazing row on the stroke of halftime at the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, before Lukaku cancelled out an early Ibrahimovic goal en route to Inter sealing a late 2-1 win.

Whilst both players were booked by referee Paolo Valeri, and Ibrahimovic later dismissed for a clumsy foul on Aleksandr Kolarov, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) federal prosecutor will now investigate the pair.

The Milan striker’s claims, including suggestions of Lukaku’s involvement in “voodoo” are to be assessed for the possibility of racism, although Ibrahimovic and Milan both deny any racial intent.

Meanwhile, Lukaku is also facing investigation over his response to the Swede in the aftermath of the clash.

Although their comments were not included in Valeri’s post match report, the federal prosecutor is able to open an investigation after assessing video footage of the incident.

Lukaku and Ibrahimovic have already both been hit by one match Coppa Italia bans for their respective cards in the game.
