Ex-Inter scout and former AC Milan director Massimiliano Mirabelli believes that his former club were getting the favourable side of a an exchange between Alexis Sanchez and Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

With Roma keen to offload Dzeko after a bitter falling out with coach Paulo Fonseca, the Giallorossi approached Inter to propose a deal that would see the Bosnian move to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

In exchange, Nerazzurri forward Sanchez would join Roma on a similar arrangement, but the deal ultimately fell through yesterday after complications surrounding wages caused an impasse.

Despite the failure to conclude negotiations, Mirabelli insisted that it was Inter that were getting the better deal from the arrangement had it gone through, in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.

“They are two great players, but Roma would have lost a lot without Dzeko,” the former AC Milan director claimed.

“Inter would have benefited from this deal, in addition to taking away an important figure from the Giallorossi.”

Dzeko is the third highest goalscorer in Roma’s history, having found the net 114 times in 241 appearances since joining from Manchester City in 2015.

Sanchez, meanwhile, joined Inter on a free transfer from Manchester United last summer after spending the previous season on loan.
