Former Inter striker Julio Cruz reminisced on his hugely successful spell at the club and claimed that his partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the best of his career.

The Argentine forward joined Inter from Bologna in 2003 and went on to win the Serie A title four times, in addition to two Coppa Italia triumphs.

In an interview published in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cruz detailed how he struck up a strike partnership with Ibrahimovic and that their positive relationship was a key part of Inter’s success.

“Of all the partners I’ve had, Zlatan was the one who I got on with the best,” the ex-Argentina international declared. He and I had so much fun together and scored so many goals.”

Cruz made 196 appearances for Inter across his six seasons at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, finding the net 75 times. He featured alongside Ibrahimovic from 2006 to 2009 after the Swede joined from Juventus, and the pair won the title in all three seasons together.

Former River Plate and Banfield striker Cruz ultimately departed Inter for Lazio in 2009, ending his career at the Biancoceleste after a single season in the Italian capital.
