Christian Eriksen’s dominant performance during Inter’s 4-0 victory over Benevento yesterday suggested the midfielder could enjoy a new lease of life, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin.
After a enduring a difficult first year in Serie A following his switch from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur last January, Eriksen was afforded a start in a deeper midfield position and impressed at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The Denmark international’s early freekick forced Benevento full-back Riccardo Improta into an own goal, whilst he also caught the eye with some dangerous passing and a long-range effort that came back off the crossbar.
This prompted Biasin to take to social media to suggest that Inter had finally found the player they had hoped to sign last year after a lengthy pursuit.
The journalist also claimed that the performance could serve as a catalyst for Eriksen to rediscover the form that attracted the Nerazzurri’s attention, as he starred for Spurs en route to reaching the Champions League Final in 2019.
Taking to Twitter, Biasin posted: “And at the end of the transfer window Inter bought one of the greatest midfielders in Europe. Welcome, Eriksen.”
