Former Inter Forward Giampaolo Pazzini: “Nerazzurri Strikers Romelu Lukaku & Lautaro Martinez Have Great Understanding”

Inter strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have developed a strong understanding between each other up front, according to former Nerazzurri man Giampaolo Pazzini.

The pair were on target in Inter’s 4-0 victory over Benevento in Serie A on Saturday evening, with Lukaku netting twice after Martinez had early broken through the Stregoni defence.

Martinez also teed up Lukaku’s first after pouncing on a mistake from goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo, as the duo were rampant in the second half at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

With Lukaku and Martinez now on 14 and 10 league goals respectively, Pazzini pointed to the understanding they had developed in attack as the key reason for their success in front of goal.

“I want to underline the understanding between Lukaku and Lautaro, you can see they have a great relationship,” Pazzini claimed on Italian television broadcaster DAZN yesterday.

“They are perhaps the only strikers who play for each other, they look out for each other and it shows. You notice the bond that they have for each other and it is evident that it is a relationship that goes beyond the pitch.”

Pazzini led the line for Inter after signing from Atalanta in January 2011 and scored 19 goals in 60 appearances, lifting the Coppa Italia in 2011. The former Italy international eventually moved on to city rivals AC Milan in August 2012.
