Antonio Conte Could Play Christian Eriksen & Marcelo Brozovic Together In Inter’s Midfield, Italian Media Argue

Inter coach Antonio Conte could possibly try Marcelo Brozovic in a new midfield role while Christian Eriksen learns his new play-maker role, a report in the Italian media suggested today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, Conte could be tempted to deploy the Croatian international as a mezzala to enable both Brozovic and Eriksen to play together, something that they have previously struggled to do.

The Rome-based publication argued that playing Brozovic as a mezzala in Conte’s midfield three – after the Croatian was turned from a no. 10 into a deep-lying midfielder by Luciano Spalletti three seasons ago – is not an idea that should be discarded because it would allow Inter to play with more quality.

Inter have had no alternative to Brozovic since his regista switch but now Eriksen has emerged, it could mean that he also plays in a different role too.

CdS’s report also went on to highlight that Matias Vecino is back available for selection in midfield following a long-term knee injury, meaning Conte has yet another midfielder at his disposal for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title chase.
