Venezia technical director Paolo Poggi has tipped Sebastiano Esposito to play for Inter’s first team regularly in the future, provided that he manages to remain humble.

Esposito joined Venezia on loan for the second half of the 2020-21 season from Inter, having fallen out of favour at SPAL, where he was supposed to spend the whole season out on loan.

He has made two appearances already for Paolo Zanetti’s side, starting in Friday’s goalless draw at Vicenza in Serie B.

“Sebastiano has incredible qualities that he has not yet expressed, not even in the first two games played with us, but we really believe in his potential,” Poggi remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sportitalia today.

“If a boy so young has had the experiences that he has had at Inter, then it is all in his hands.

“If he manages to remain humble, he can play in the Inter first team.”

Poggi then went on to discuss Esposito’s mental state and shared his hopes to see the best of the the Italian youth international representative soon.

“He arrived in Venice with his head a little disturbed because he is an 18-year-old boy who has just changed teams and it is not easy to immerse yourself in a new place immediately.

“We hope that he will emerge as soon as he can.”

Esposito, who was able to have a mini-breakthrough of sorts at Inter last season, is widely regarded as one of the club’s top prospects at the moment.

This season between his loans with SPAL and Venezia, the 18-year-old sensation, has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has managed to score two goals and provide a single assist for his teammates.
