Inter will finalise Lautaro Martinez’s new contract before the end of February, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, a meeting has already been scheduled between the Nerazzurri and Lautaro’s representatives in order to formalise the agreement already reached in previous weeks.

Antonio Conte is now expecting to see the real Lautaro again off the back of El Toro’s contract boost, having alternated impressive and frustrating performances in an Inter shirt lately.

Lautaro has scored four goals in eight games since the turn of the year, but what is clear is that more consistency is required from the 23-year-old, with three of those four goals coming in one match against Crotone on January 3.

During Inter’s last 16 games, in fact, the former Racing Club striker has only scored in three games, while his goal return in this year’s UEFA Champions League group stage was far worse than last year.

Lautaro managed just one goal in the group stage this season, having managed five goals in last year’s edition.

He is expected to start up front for Inter this evening when they host Juventus in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.
