Antonio Conte could not hide his frustration at Inter’s financial difficulties following their 2-1 defeat to Juventus in the Coppa Italia tonight.

Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo secured victory for Andrea Pirlo’s side in the semi-final first leg at San Siro, after Lautaro Martinez had given the Nerazzurri an early lead.

Inter now have everything to do in the return match at the Allianz Stadium next week, but Conte was also asked about the club’s precarious economic situation after the match.

“It is a particular situation, it is useless to hide from it,” an irritated Conte remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Rai Sport on Tuesday evening.

“We had a project in August and it stopped in August.”

There has been no shortage of speculation regarding Inter’s ownership situation in recent weeks, with reports on Monday revealing Suning’s takeover talks with BC Partners had collapsed.

The two seemingly could not come to an agreement over the club’s valuation and Suning are now reportedly engaging with other interested parties, such as EQT, Arctos Sports Partners, Fortress and Mubadala.

Inter have an urgent need for liquidity in the short term, which is forcing their Chinese owners to seek investors who can inject fresh capital into the club.
