Lautaro Martinez has revealed his friendship with Inter teammate Romelu Lukaku goes beyond their duties on the pitch.
Lu-La is regarded as one of Europe’s most formidable strike partnerships at present, with the pair having scored 32 goals between them in all competitions this season.
Speaking to Belgian publication Sport Voetbalmagazine, El Toro explained the bond he shares with the Belgian and why they get on so well.
“I get on well with Lukaku on and off the pitch,” Lautaro said.
“Romelu is a good guy who speaks eight different languages, he’s an important player in our team.
“He’s very humble too, his backstory is a bit like mine because we both started with nothing and this helps us understand each other better.
“I like doing barbecues and Romelu likes eating that stuff, he’s a calming influence when I’m by the grill.
“I have a few videogames that I like playing with him as well.”
Lautaro has made 29 appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring 12 goals and most recently netting in last night’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.
However, as the 23-year-old revealed, he could very easily never have become a professional footballer at all.
Lautaro joined Inter in a €20 million deal from Racing Club in the summer of 2018 and has become one of Europe’s hottest young prospects since.
Barcelona were desperate to bring El Toro to La Liga last summer but Inter never showed any intention of letting Lautaro leave so soon.
Lautaro is in fact expected to sign a new three-year deal with Inter soon, as per multiple reports in the Italian media this week.
