Samir Handanovic, Alessandro Bastoni and Ashley Young took a severe beating in the Italian media this morning after Inter’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus in the Coppa Italia.

Young conceded the penalty which handed the Bianconeri their equaliser before Bastoni and Handanovic combined to set up Cristiano Ronaldo for his second, leaving the Nerazzurri with a mountain to climb in Tuesday’s semi-final second leg.

Gazzetta dello Sport handed ratings of 4/10 to the keeper and the centre-back following their disastrous mix-up on the half-hour, while the former Manchester United full-back fared little better with 4.5/10.

Tuttosport gave 4.5/10 to all three, arguing Bastoni showcased his inexperience on Ronaldo’s goal before criticising Handanovic for ending up in ‘no man’s land’ behind his teammate.

Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez both took 6.5/10 from the Turin-based publication and were Inter’s highest rated players between both papers, following their link-up play for El Toro’s early goal at San Siro.

Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez received 5/10 ratings from Gazzetta with Matteo Darmian, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Christian Eriksen getting 5.5/10.

Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij were treated less severely with ratings of 6/10.
