Matias Vecino has been left out of Inter’s squad for tomorrow’s Serie A match at Fiorentina, a report in Italy confirmed tonight.

The Uruguay midfielder appeared on the Nerazzurri’s substitutes bench in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Juventus in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final, but did not come on.

FcInterNews.it explained that there was no reason for Inter fans to be concerned by Antonio Conte’s decision to leave the 29-year-old in Milan.

Vecino would not have played at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and will therefore stay at Appiano Gentile where he can continue his personalised training schedule, something he could not have done in Florence, as he returns to full fitness following knee surgery last year.

Conte only included Vecino in his squad for Tuesday’s match against Juve because Inter were playing at home and it did not disrupt the midfielder’s training program.

Vecino has fully recovered from the knee problem which has forced him to sit on the sidelines since last July and will complete a double session in Milan tomorrow.

He still hopes to play an important role in the second half of Inter’s season, with the Nerazzurri looking to claim a first league title since 2010.
