Real Madrid are interested in signing Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella this summer, according to a Spanish media report today.

TodoFichajes.com report that Barella is the Real Madrid board’s preferred option in their bid to find a long-term replacement for Luka Modric, whose contract expires at the end of this season.

Los Blancos are so interested that they are already thinking about what sort of offer they will submit to Inter for the 23-year-old in the summer.

Barella is currently said to be valued at €55 million while Real Madrid have already been in touch with his representatives.

The former Cagliari man would reportedly not be against the idea of moving to Spain, with talks expected to continue in the coming months.

The report argues this is something that worries Inter, who do not wish to give up a player like Barella.

Barella has scored two goals and provided 10 assists in 29 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side this season.
