Inter do not have recent history on their side for tonight’s Serie A match away to Fiorentina, as reported by the Italian media today.

The Nerazzurri are looking to temporarily displace AC Milan at the top of the table with victory at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

But, as Tuttosport’s print edition highlighted, Inter have always struggled in Florence in previous seasons, having only won one of their last nine league meetings there.

The last time Fiorentina were beaten on their own patch was way back in February 2014, when Mauro Icardi and Rodrigo Palacio secured a 2-1 win under Walter Mazzarri.

Either side of Mazzarri’s victory, Inter have recorded four draws and four defeats when visiting the Viola in Serie A.

They did get the better of Cesare Prandelli’s side in last month’s Coppa Italia last 16 tie, though, with Romelu Lukaku heading in a late extra-time winner.

TS argued Inter would need Romelu Lukaku on his best form to overcome their Franchi hoodoo, with the Belgian set to return to the starting XI after missing Tuesday’s cup defeat at home to Juventus through suspension.
