Ivan Perisic has urged his Inter teammates to produce more performances like the one which earned them a 2-0 win at Fiorentina tonight.
Nicolo Barella gave the Nerazzurri the lead during the first half with a magnificent curling effort before Perisic also got on target at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, tapping home an Achraf Hakimi cross just a yard from goal.
The result has moved Inter to the top of the Serie A standings, at least until Sunday when AC Milan take on Crotone at San Siro.
“Is this the decisive moment of the season? It could be, but there are many games still to be played,” Perisic explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the match in Florence.
“We have to win every game, we can’t afford slip ups anymore.
“We need to always play like we did tonight.”
The 32-year-old proceeded to reflect on the match itself and then looked ahead to Tuesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg match away to Juventus, where Antonio Conte’s side must overturn a 2-1 deficit.
“I think we had a good match tonight,” Perisic argued.
“We created many chances, we could have killed the match off earlier but we have picked up three important points.
“We are top of the table, this is what counts.
“Now we are going to Turin to win.”
Asked about the fact that this win puts pressures on Inter’s rivals, Perisic responded: “Every week we have to do our job and continue on like this.
“We are working well, we are on the right track.”
