Romelu Lukaku will be asked to speak to the Italian Football Federation as part of their investigation into last week’s bust-up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a leading Italian broadcaster reported today.

The former Manchester United teammates were involved in a bitter exchange of insults during Inter’s 2-1 win over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, with the pair squaring up to one another before half-time at San Siro.

As per Sky Sport Italia, FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chine interviewed Ibrahimovic on a video call this morning to hear the Swede’s version of events on what happened during the derby on January 26.

Lukaku will be asked to provide his testimony as well within the next 10 days.

The FIGC could impose further punishments on Ibrahimovic and Lukaku if they are found guilty of breaking the federation’s sports code of justice, with Ibra in particular at risk for his ‘voodoo’ jibe towards the Belgian.

Paolo Valeri, the referee for last week’s feisty Derby della Madonnina, has already spoken to Chine after he let both players get away with a booking during the game.

Lukaku had the last laugh as he scored a penalty in the Nerazzurri’s dramatic second-half fightback, while Ibrahimovic was dismissed for a second yellow card with 30 minutes left.
