Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta: “Suning Have Given A Lot To Inter, Hope Issues Resolved Soon”

Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta hopes that the club’s current corporate issues are resolved quickly.

The Nerazzurri are widely reported to be facing liquidity issues and current club owners Suning are engaging with interested parties regarding potential fresh investment, to help the club out during what is a delicate financial moment.

Talk of Suning potentially selling Inter has reached fever pitch in the Italian media this week and has overshadowed tonight’s match away at Fiorentina.

“All our matches are important, this is a delicate moment due to problems which have little to do with the football,” Marotta explained when speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia prior to kick-off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“We as the club management are managing it in the best way.

“It is an important game against Fiorentina, but they all are when you fight to get to the top.

“We will then face Lazio and AC Milan, which is why it is important today.”

The former Juventus executive then went on to discuss how the positive results are helping out at the moment and pointed out that Inter are not alone in being in such a difficult economic situation.

“The positive results make the environment more compact, even the big problems become small,” Marotta argued.

“Things are going well, we hope that things are resolved quickly in order to give peace of mind.

“It is a problem that involves our shareholders, who are responsible people and will go on to make wise choices for the project.

“It is a situation that does not concern Inter, but our shareholders.

“We will go forward with strength, determination and a sense of belonging.

“It is a moment of world financial contraction and what is happening at Inter is also happening at other clubs.”

Marotta was then asked whether the team can or will be impacted by all of the issues going on off the field.

“The team could be affected if the media is always talking about the sale of the club,” he added.

“We accept criticism, but there must be respect for Inter and their players and their professionalism.

“Our coaching department is exceptional, our players are professionals but also passionate about their work.”

Inter have won both of their two previous encounters against Fiorentina this season, with the most recent of those successes coming in the Coppa Italia last 16 on January 13, when Antonio Conte’s side won 2-1 after extra-time.

Several changes have been made to the side who lost to Juventus in midweek, with Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi both notably coming back into the team having missed the last match due to suspension.
