BC Partners have offered Suning nearly €800 million in their latest bid to buy Inter, according to an Italian newspaper report today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, the British private equity fund were previously thought to value Inter at €750 million but have now upped their proposal to take control of the Nerazzurri.
This is still a long way off what Suning want for Inter, with the Chinese retail giant understood to be seeking €1 billion in order to sell the club.
But sources close to BC Partners have pointed out that they would effectively be investing €1 billion into Inter anyway, because any new owners would have to immediately spend an additional €200 million to cover Inter’s impending financial deadlines.
The reason for this is because Inter need a $200 million cash injection to keep the club operating into next season, something Suning are seemingly already seeking according to a report yesterday from The Financial Times.
