Suning Would Only Sell Inter For €1 Billion With Steven Zhang Reluctant To Leave, Report Claims

Inter’s owners Suning would only agree to sell the club if somebody offered €1 billion, an Italian broadcaster confirmed today.

As per Sport Mediaset, British-based private equity fund BC Partners saw an official offer for the Nerazzurri worth €750 million rejected earlier this week, after Suning deemed it to be too low.

Inter president Steven Zhang is reluctant to leave and would much prefer to solve the club’s financial woes by recruiting a partner as a minority shareholder.

Suning need an injection of €200 million in capital to help keep Inter operative without serious problems, following heavy losses incurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Inter’s majority shareholders seek fresh investment from international funds, Suning are also trying to reassure everyone around the club by informing the media that they can still guarantee Inter’s financial stability until the end of 2021.

SM argued that Antonio Conte’s side needed as few distractions as possible in their bid to reclaim the Serie A title, with a crucial trip to play Fiorentina on the agenda tonight.
