Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella continued his sterling form as he netted the opener in the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Fiorentina yesterday.

The 23-year-old curled a fine effort in from outside the box midway through the first half at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, before Ivan Perisic doubled the lead as Inter moved a point clear at the top of the Serie A table.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barella’s performance led to him enjoying his best season in Serie A with only half the campaign gone, as he reached three goals and five assists.

Barella struck six goals at hometown club Cagliari in 2017/18 but failed to register an assist at the Sardegna Arena that season, before netting once and laying on four goals the following campaign.

The Italian international’s first season at Inter yielded a single goal and five assists in 27 appearances, with Barella already surpassing this after only 21 outings.
