Former Inter man Igor Shalimov was unimpressed with new Fiorentina signing Aleksandr Kokorin due to him not being ready yet and Fiorentina’s unwillingness to fight for the win.

Fiorentina were uninspiring in defeat as they lost 2-0 at home to Antonio Conte’s Inter on Friday during which they introduced January signing Aleksandr Kokorin at half time.

However he was unable to give them enough to turn the game around, former Inter midfielder Igor Shalimov was asked for his verdict on the new Fiorentina signing by Italian radio station Lady Radio after the game.

For me it was important to see Kokorin on the pitch, first of all”

He was in jail for a year, then at Sochi he did quite well but didnt play many games.

“Finally at Spartak he had problems with the system, there they lined up more or less like Inter and they used Kokorin as a forward or as number 10.”

Shalimov went on to discuss why Kokorin was not able to make an impact in La Viola’s defeat on Friday night assessing whether Kokirn is ready to make an impact just yet.

Yesterday he did not show anything because he is not ready and the team did not push, I did not see the desire to score and equalize”

In conclusion Shalimov compared his time in Italy as a Russian player to how it may be for Kokorin after his arrival from Spartak Moscow.

I don’t know, maybe Kokorin being new and having gained a lot in Russia, he may be teased by his teammates.

“It happened to me, I hope not because in any case the team is far from politics and nowadays there is more unity at European level”.

Kokorin arrives in Florence with a lot of experience from his playing days in Russia, his list of clubs includes many of Russia’s best known teams worldwide such as Zenit Saint Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow and Spartak Moscow.

Fiorentina will be hoping that the forward’s experience in his mother land will help them push up the table and challenge for a top half finish at the end of the season.
