Antonio Conte believes Inter will have to be almost perfect in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg match away to Juventus if they wish to reach the final.
The Nerazzurri lost last week’s first leg match-up at San Siro 2-1 and must therefore score at least two goals if they wish to stand any chance of making it through to the final in May, where they would take on either Atalanta or Napoli.
Conte will have virtually a full strength squad to choose from for the match in Turin, although Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal are ruled out through suspension.
“Only with hard work and preparing for the game in the right way can we go through,” Conte told Italian broadcaster Rai Sport this evening ahead of the clash at the Allianz Stadium.
“This is the best way to convey the conviction to the players to win the game and try to go through.
“We have to play with desire and determination and try to be perfect.
“To beat Juventus you have to play a match that is close to perfection.”
Conte then went on to remind Inter’s players that they had a responsibility to perform for their supporters in Tuesday’s Derby d’Italia.
“We know that we must be the pride of our fans,” he added.
“The boys know that whoever wears this shirt has the obligation to make the fans proud regardless.
“This must always be our mission.”
Lautaro Martinez gave Inter the lead in last week’s first leg, before an individual error from Ashley Young and a mix-up between Samir Handanovic and Alessandro Bastoni gifted a double to Cristiano Ronaldo.
This will be the third Derby d’Italia of the season, following that game and Inter’s 2-0 win in the league on January 17.
