Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has warned the Nerazzurri not to let Lazio back into the Serie A title race on Sunday.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are nine points off leaders AC Milan but are the league’s most in-form side, having secured a sixth straight win against Cagliari last night.

Inter can ill afford to drop points against the Biancocelesti at San Siro, with the second Derby della Madonnina of the Serie A campaign coming up the following weekend.

Asked during Sky Sport Italia’s Sunday night program Sky Calcio Club whether Lazio could yet compete for the Scudetto, Bergomi responded: “It depends on what happens on Sunday.

“If they pick up form then they won’t stop.

“Of course, they have Inter ahead of them and at the moment the gap between the two teams is a lot.”

Antonio Conte’s side kept the pressure on AC Milan last weekend by recording a comfortable 2-0 victory away to Fiorentina.

The Nerazzurri are two points behind their city rivals, with Juventus some five points back having played a game less.

Roma and Lazio are tied on 40 points with 17 games remaining, three points clear of Napoli and Atalanta.
