Inter are favourites to win the Serie A title this season because of their unstoppable attack, an Italian media report argued today.

This season’s race for the Scudetto is the most open and uncertain in recent years but, as per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, Antonio Conte’s side appear to have more firepower than their rivals with 51 goals scored in 21 games.

Romelu Lukaku is undoubtedly the main driving force behind Conte’s ‘mighty orchestra’, with 14 league goals so far this season, but the Nerazzurri are not entirely reliant on the Belgian who has only netted twice in his last seven games.

Lukaku is sharing the attacking burden with Lautaro Martinez, who has 10 league goals, while midfielders and defenders are also chipping in with a healthy contribution.

In any case, the former Manchester United striker is in contention to win this season’s Golden Boot in Italy, with Lukaku tied in second on 14 alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ciro Immobile, two goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Rome-based publication also cited the fact Inter were out of Europe as another reason to make them title favourites, following the surprise elimination from the Champions League in December.

Former Nerazzurri striker Antonio Cassano today warned Antonio Conte it would be a ‘bloodbath’ if he failed to bring the Scudetto back to the club this season.

Roma legend Daniele De Rossi, however, is convinced the ex-Juventus boss is desperate to dethrone his old club in May.
