Antonio Conte remains optimistic of recovering Arturo Vidal in time for Inter’s match against Lazio on Sunday, according to an Italian newspaper reprot.

Vidal picked up a knee problem during the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win at Fiorentina on Friday and faces a race against time to shake off the issue before this weekend’s clash at San Siro.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, the Chilean midfielder is training at Appiano Gentile today in a bid to complete his recovery, despite Conte having given Inter’s players the day off.

Vidal hopes to re-join the rest of the first team for training tomorrow.

The 33-year-old has been near ever present for Conte’s side since his arrival from Barcelona in last summer’s transfer window.

Vidal has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Inter, in which he has scored two goals and provided as many assists.

Inter must now aim to put Tuesday’s dramatic Coppa Italia elimination at Juventus behind them with victory over Simone Inzaghi’s in-form Lazio side on Sunday.
