Stefan de Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola refused to be drawn tonight on talk of a contract extension for the Inter defender.

De Vrij is reportedly close to agreeing a new deal with the Nerazzurri, along with fellow centre-backs Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni.

The Netherlands international has a contract with Inter through to June 2023 but Raiola was in no mood to create fresh rumours on his future when quizzed by reporters.

“If you want to know more about Stefan’s renewal you have to talk to Inter, not me,” Raiola told Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

“I respect the need for discretion which applies for everyone.

“I’ve always worked behind the scenes with discretion on these sorts of things because otherwise speculation can disturb people.

“When I speak and say my opinion on certain things, the shares of the stock market splash up and down, going crazy.”

Raiola, who is one of football’s most renowned agents, then spoke on another of his clients currently on Inter’s books in Andrea Pinamonti.

The Italian youngster returned to Inter on a permanent basis this past summer but he has struggled for regular game time since his return to Milan, having been limited to six substitute appearances under Antonio Conte.

“Pinamonti is a young player to whom Inter proposed a development path and he is following it, except for when he was injured.

“You can’t be satisfied when you don’t always play, but we had taken that into account.”

Pinamonti was an unused substitute for Inter’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at Juventus on Tuesday, a game in which De Vrij played the full 90 minutes.
