The Nerazzurri are looking to tie down Italian international midfielder Nicolo Barella as Europe’s big guns look to pounce, Italian media report.

According to today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are hoping to tie down their most promising youngsters including Nicolo Barella to ward off interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

Midfielder Barella has all the making of a future Inter captain but Inter must secure his future to keep him there long enough.

Barella’s contract extension is the priority for Inter who want to extend his current 2024 expiring contract to a few years longer and give the youngster a generous pay rise.

Inter see Barella as the blueprint to build the future Nerazzurri around so see it as vital to prevent the former Cagliari man moving on any time soon.

His performances will no doubt be gaining interest from other clubs but if Inter can manage to tie Barella down to the club then that will prove a positive first step in Inter’s long term project.
