Inter must stop Ciro Immobile getting on the ball if they wish to beat Lazio in tomorrow’s Serie A clash between the two sides, according to the Nerazzurri’s former forward Sandro Mazzola.

Immobile has been absolutely prolific for Simone Inzaghi’s side since joining from Sevilla in 2016, netting a highly impressive goal tally of 144 goals in just 202 appearances.

This season, the 42-time Italian national team representative has scored 19 goals in 24 outings and is a player that Antonio Conte’s men will without doubt have to play close attention to throughout the match at San Siro.

“For me Inter-Lazio has a particular meaning to it because my brother played for Lazio,” Mazzola explained in an interview with Radio Nerazzurra on Friday.

“Inter will have to stop Immobile and have one player in front of him and one player behind him so he cannot be given the ball.

“I have a prediction for the match, but I will not say it.”

Mazzola then went on to add that Inter coach Antonio Conte must help the team out psychologically after their elimination from the Coppa Italia, which leaves Inter competing in just the Serie A for the remainder of the season.

“Conte must be good here,” he continued.

“He needs to be very good, in fact, because as a player you feel like saying: ‘Damn, what are we going to do now.’

“The coach must get into the players’ heads and convince them that they are strong, this is something only he can do.”

Inter are two points behind league leaders AC Milan heading into matchday 22, although they could be five points adrift by kick-off tomorrow with the Rossoneri visiting Spezia this afternoon.
