AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli believes the Milan derby next week is an important game for his side but a win is always the objective.

Speaking to Italian media broadcaster Sky Sport after his sides defeat to Spezia, Romagnoli highlighted the importance of next weeks Milan derby, as reported by FcInterNews.

We made a mistake in the game, it was our fault and we take responsibility. Now we have to restart immediately from Thursday’s match.

We are used to playing every 3-4 days, indeed the fact that there is Europe allows us to immediately think about the next match and forget this defeat.

“Then our goal is to reach the Champions League. I don’t think it’s a physical problem, we had a bad game and we weren’t focused.

“I don’t think it will be a problem for us to play in Europe. The derby is very important for us, but we always want three points.

“Now on Thursday we have a very tough game and then from Friday we will think about the derby” expressed Romagnoli after his sides 2-0 defeat to Spezia last night.

AC Milan’s loss last night now gives Inter a huge opportunity to go top of the Serie A this evening, should the Nerazzurri manage to win against Lazio at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.

Inter will face a tough task to defeat the Biancocelesti who have six straight wins in the Serie A, but if they manage to do so, they would go into the derby next weekend with a chance of going four points clear of their cross town rivals.

AC Milan will be watching their neighbours closely tonight hoping for an Inter slip up.
