Romelu Lukaku proved his credentials as a world-class striker during Inter’s win over Lazio last night, according to a report in the Italian media.

Lukaku scored the Nerazzurri’s opener from the penalty spot before adding a second before half-time and then setting up Lautaro Martinez to secure a 3-1 win.

Tuttosport’s print edition praised the Belgian for ‘crushing’ Simone Inzaghi’s side at San Siro, having scored his 300th career goal last night.

“The image that will linger in the memory from Sunday’s match was his galloping run past Marco Parolo that led to Inter making it 3-1, with the defender falling like a twig while he tried to contain Big Rom,” the Turin-based publication wrote.

Lukaku’s performance was said to be one of three reasons Antonio Conte has to smile following Inter’s triumph against the Biancocelesti, which sent them to the top of the Serie A table for the first time this season.

Another reason for Conte to be happy was said to be the almost perfect defence Inter have had as of late in Serie A, with them having only conceded one goal in their last five games.

TS then highlighted the fact that Iner’s title rivals will resume playing in Europe from this week, while Conte’s side have no European football commitments and can therefore focus entirely on the task at hand in the league.
