Inter defender Milan Skriniar expressed his joy with tonight’s victory against Lazio in the Serie A when speaking to an Italian TV broadcaster but immediately turned his attention to next weeks derby.

Speaking to Inter TV immediately after the final whistle which saw Inter win 3-1 against Lazio, Skriniar highlighted his delight with tonight’s important result and what is the next focus for the Nerazzurri.

“It was a well prepared match. We knew what awaited us, we wanted to do it like this and we did it well. Shame we conceded a goal but it is not a problem, we scored three.

“A decisive message sent, we enjoy the victory tonight and from tomorrow we will start preparing for Sunday’s match,” declared Skriniar after an important victory this evening.

The joy among the Inter players and staff when the third goal went in was clear to see and said a lot about the unity of the group.

“You saw [our joy] when we scored the third goal because Lazio had reopened the game and scoring was really so important, we were very happy” said Skriniar in response to being asked how tight knit the group is right now.

Despite not wearing the armband, Skriniar is a natural leader in this Inter side and plays like one too, with many pundits and plaudits alike arguing that he is a future Nerazzurri captain in the making.

“This is expected from us defenders, to take charge when you are in trouble. The team also expects a hand from us and it is important to take charge of the players up front” explained Skriniar on his traits of leadership within the team.

Inter put in a fantastic performance this evening against Lazio and will be hopeful of carrying that form into next weeks crucial derby at the San Siro against bitter rivals AC Milan.
