Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels Inter worked hard for their victory against Lazio and are deserving of being top of the league, he told an Italian TV broadcaster.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia immediately after Inter’s victory over Lazio, Lautaro Martinez outlined that the Nerazzurri had worked hard for the victory tonight which saw the top the table.

Yes, we work hard for this and today we can say that we are ahead. This pleases everyone, we had a great match as a team,” explained Martinez.

The victory meant Inter topped the table for the first time this season, giving them the upper hand in the race for the Scudetto.

True, if I’m not mistaken this is the first time that we are in front of everyone. This must be a starting point, we must no longer leave the top spot.

“Sunday is the derby, if we want to stay there we have to work and do what we are doing,” said Lautaro when asked if this was a turning point in the title race.

Martinez scored the goal to seal the win and make the score 3-1, his partner Lukaku scored Inter’s first two goals in tonight’s game.

Of course, I have to run earlier sometimes but as I always say, he does a great job for the team and we are happy if Inter win” said Martinez when asked if he must set off running before Lukaku in order to keep up with the Belgian.

Yes, I wasn’t well before because I was a little tired. Now I’ve done some recovery work and I’m always ready for when the coach wants to send me on the pitch” added Martinez on his current form.

As well as victory tonight, Martinez recently became a Father and was asked how his daughter was

Nina [his daughter] is good, she makes me sleep,” concluded Martinez.

Martinez and the squad must now turn their attention to next week’s huge derby match at the San Siro.
