Inter goal scorer Lautaro Martinez outlined to an Italian TV broadcaster that his and the teams attention will now turn to the derby next weekend immediately after the win against Lazio.

Speaking to Inter TV after the win where he scored the third goal in this evenings victory to send Inter to the top of the table, Lautaro Martinez highlighted his focus is now on next weeks crunch derby with AC Milan.

We go game by game, now there’s the derby. We lost matches in the league, it wasn’t easy in the Coppa Italia, we have to prepare it well to do our job” explained Martinez.

Lautaro scored the third goal for Inter to regain a two goal lead after Lazio had got themselves back into the game but couldn’t recall it when asked to.

I don’t remember, a counter with Romelu against two opponents, I called for it, he passed it to me and I scored.

“Then we all rejoiced together because it is something we feel so much, we are united and today we have shown character and game of team.

“We were compact, we hurt Lazio” added Martinez when asked on how his goal came about.

Lautaro spoke on this evenings opponents

They have won many games in a row, they are playing a lot and really well in the league. We did our job, bringing home three points and now we are in the lead” Martinez said on tonight’s visitors.

Martinez played a huge part in Inter’s victory tonight with a good performance from the Argentine.

When I enter the field sometimes things go well and sometimes they don’t, but I always try to give my best.

“Tonight we all ran, not just me, I’m very happy because we are where we wanted to be” said Martinez on his own and the teams performance.

Inter will now head into next week’s derby as the team with the top spot to lose.

This is the closest Inter have been to getting their hands on the Scudetto since 2011 and tonight’s victory could prove to have been a huge turning point.
