Antonio Conte has no reason to leave Inter this summer, according to his former Juventus teammate Pippo Inzaghi.

Inter are in pole position to win their first league title in 11 years after going top of Serie A with victory over Lazio last night.

Conte’s long-term future with the Nerazzurri is not guaranteed, though, with owners Suning reportedly considering selling the club due to financial difficulties.

However, Benevento boss Inzaghi told Domenica Sportiva last night: “I do not think he will leave at the end of the season.

“It is hard to find stronger teams than Inter in all of Europe.

“Conte has already coached a lot of teams, it is not like there are many others around.

“He can do well at Inter for a few more years.

“Conte is happy now and knowing how ambitious he is, I know he wants to win the Scudetto.

“With such a squad and considering it’s Inter’s only remaining objective this season, I know he wants to win.

“I like his mentality and I know that he believes it’s possible to win the title.

“He tries to keep the tensions away because he knows that the team does not need further pressure.”

Inzaghi also went on to rule out the possibility of him taking charge of Inter in the future given his AC Milan past, despite the fact Conte took charge of Inter after a long affiliation with Juventus.

“Given my history at AC Milan, such a thing is unlikely to happen,” Inzaghi admitted.

“My history with AC Milan is something that will never fade, I think it would be very difficult.”

Inzaghi, who led Benevento to the Serie B title last term, also commented on Sunday’s big match at San Siro, which saw his brother Simone defeated 3-1.

“Even if Lazio played a good game, Inter remain a great team,” Pippo said.

“I know Simone cared a lot about this match, he went into it off the back of six consecutive league wins and wanted to continue that run.

“It must be acknowledged that Lazio lacked Luis Felipe and Stefan Radu, it would be like Inter doing without Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni.

“Lukaku made the difference and that is what he was signed for.

“Inter played the match that they had to play, it was a match between two great teams.”

Inzaghi also admitted that Inter have a duty to fight for the Serie A title.

“Inter are the strongest in Serie A together with Juventus.

“Having no other competitions to play in, they have a duty to fight to the end for the Scudetto due to the strength and coach that they have.

“It will be a good season until the end of the season, also thanks to AC Milan.”

Inter face their biggest game of the season so far when they play AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday.
