Romelu Lukaku is having an amazing season but there is more to his great season than just the goals he has scored, according to legendary Inter defender Riccardo Ferri.

The Belgian international has been absolutely prolific for the Nerazzurri, scoring 22 goals in 29 games across all competitions so far this season.

Lukaku grabbed another two goals during Sunday’s 3-1 win over Lazio, which took him joint-top of Serie A’s goal-scoring charts alongside Cristiano Ronaldo on 16.

“He is having an amazing season, not only due to his numbers and attitude on the pitch but also due to his proactive attitude and selflessness,” Ferri, who made over 400 appearances in his time with Inter, explained to TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Lukaku has the ability to not stand in front of everyone but rather be available to everyone.

“This is a sign of a champion and now everyone appreciates and sees him as a champion.”

Ferri proceeded to share his belief that Christian Eriksen is now emerging at Inter based on the performances that the Denmark international has dished up of late.

“Since the transfer window closed, he has had a few more chances because he earned it in training and his self-esteem and awareness of his own ability has grown.

“We knew the qualities he had and now he is emerging and he’s one more player for Antonio Conte to use.”

In conclusion, Ferri went on to discuss the race for the Serie A title which has been one of the most competitive title races in years with Inter, AC Milan and Juventus all staking a claim for Scudetto glory.

“In my opinion the contenders for the title remain the same.

“Juve will not give up and will try to get their tenth title in a row while AC Milan were in the lead until Sunday.

“So there are three teams who are sure to fight for the title.

“The commitments in Europe can be decisive.”

Inter are one point clear of AC Milan following matchday 22, but everything is up for grabs again next weekend when the sides meet for the final Milan derby of the season.
