Inter legend Riccardo Ferri is hoping for a much cleaner Milan derby on Sunday than the one which took place last month.
Antonio Conte’s side secured a dramatic comeback victory over AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, with Christian Eriksen firing in a 97th-minute free-kick to seal a 2-1 win.
But the derby was overshadowed by the unpleasant row between Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic before half-time, which the Italian Football Federation are still investigating.
Speaking on Sport Mediaset last night, Ferri said: “I hope it’s a great match without any controversial incidents, clashes or brawls like Lukaku and Ibrahimovic had in the Coppa Italia.
“Let’s hope it’s played in the best possible way and that the best team wins, in this instance Inter.
“A prediction? No, I’ll never give one.”
Inter leapfrogged their city rivals for the first time this season when they defeated Lazio 3-1 on Sunday, something Christian Panucci gives them a psychological advantage heading into Sunday’s big match at San Siro.
Conte’s side now have the opportunity to open up a four-point gap over the Rossoneri with victory this weekend, after which there would only be 15 games left.
In a separate interview on Tuesday, Ferri shared an amusing anecdote from his own derby memories as a player, which involved his teammate Nicola Berti kicking balls at AC Milan players to distract them during the warm-up.
